This is an adaptation of the parable of Jesus found in Luke 18:9-14.

To those who were confident of their own social distancing and looked down on everyone else, Jesus told this parable:

“Two people went to the local park to play, one a Crusader and the other an Essential Worker. At the park, the Crusader talked to those around him, passed his rugby ball and  rubbed shoulders with his neighbours. He ignored the 2m social distancing parameters set down by the Queen.
Yet he boasted: ‘I thank you that I am not like other people—surfers, mountain bikers, hunters—or even like David Clark. I stay in my bubble, I update my instaego, I watch Dr Bloomfield everyday and I talk to my fans via Zoom.’

“But the Essential Worker stood at a 3m distance. He would not even look at the swing in the park, nor touch the railings around the outside. But he said, ‘Have mercy on me, I took more flour than I needed on my last visit to PaknSav.’

Jesus then said, “I tell you that the Essential Worker, rather than the Crusader, went home justified.
For all those who flaunt social distancing will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will ensure we survive Covid-19.”
